Furniture designs, 1875-1876.

Five furniture designs by Joy Wheeler Dow, drawn in 1875-1876 while he was a teenager. All the designs are very neo-Gothic in style, being very heavily decorated. Four of the items are labeled "no. 1" and form a matched set: a bureau with a large mirror, a bedstead with a half tester, and a washstand. A side view of the bureau was also drawn. The last drawing of furniture is of a second bureau, with a mirror, small shelves, and a door covering the drawer fronts. Its decorative details match the other designs, but it is not numbered. All the designs were drawn between December 16, 1875, and February 9, 1876.
